Ellisons sponsor 2 new categories in the Colchester District Business Awards 2003 – Business Man of the Year and Business Woman of the Year!
We are delighted to be sponsoring 2 exciting new categories in this year’s Colchester District Business Awards – Business Man of the Year and Business Woman of the Year.
Our strong links with businesses both regionally and in London make sponsorship of the new categories a natural choice. We have established close links with the business community and our Commerical Property, Corporate Commercial, and Employment departments all provide an extensive range of services to businesses of all sizes both regionally and in London. Sponsoring these exciting new awards is a natural extension of that role.
Although the new awards could be sponsored separately, we decided to highlight our own commitment to equal opportunities by sponsorship of both categories. Indeed, the last 6 trainee solicitors at Ellisons have been female and within the firm itself, there is a clear balance of the sexes with the emphasis on performance and team work.
The two new categories will enable the judges to take into account the personalities and individual contributions of entrants and to publicly recognise those who will be named Business Man of the Year and Business Woman of the Year.
Entrants will be judged initially on information they provide and 6 finalists will be selected in each category. Each finalist will then be interviewed by the judges Ellisons’ offices at Colchester. Each finalist will be given a maximum of 30 minutes in which to convince the judges that they should win the category and please note that time limits will be strictly observed!
The judges for Business Woman of the Year are Graeme Wallington, Guy Longhurst and Sally Boutell. The judges for Business Man of the Year are Max Harnden, Jon Armstrong and Jayne Scott. For personal profiles of the judges click on the “our people” section of the main menu.

All finalists will receive press coverage in the “Meet the Finalists” supplement of the Colchester Evening Gazette plus 2 complimentary tickets for the black tie presentation dinner dance for 550 guests at Charter Hall Colchester on Friday 28th November 2003. The presentation dance is a splendid occasion where success in business is recognised and celebrated.
